With its 8.9" Eee PC 900 out the door, Asus is far from resting on its laurels. In fact, the company is now hard at work on the Eee PC 901, an updated model based on Intel's Atom processor. The new laptop is expected to hit stores later this quarter, and the folks at French Eee fan-site Blogeee.net have come upon a series of press shots of it.
Blogeee.net's shots show the 901 from every angle, and they reveal a number of subtle and not-so-subtle design changes. The device is more curved and looks shinier than its predecessors, the buttons on its touchpad are metallic (with the metal extending to surround the touchpad itself), the power connector now lies on the right side, and the hinges are larger and have metal caps on either side. As far as connectivity options go, however, the machine remains pretty much identical to the Eee PC 900.
Interestingly, the Eee PC 901 bears no Asus branding, and the only logo to adorn the bottom of the display bezel is that of the Eee PC line. Blogeee.net says the branding change reflects Asus' purported intent to make the Eee brand stand on its own.
